Careers at Preferred Truck and Equipment
Join a company that supports the waste and recycling fleets keeping Northern California moving.
Work in a Hands-On Heavy Truck Environment
Preferred Truck and Equipment operates in a hands-on, heavy-duty environment. We support sales, service, and parts for waste and recycling equipment — the trucks that keep cities, towns, and commercial routes running every day.
This is not a desk-only operation. Whether you're turning wrenches in the shop, coordinating parts from the counter, or helping a fleet manager spec out their next truck, you're working with real equipment that matters to real people. If you like solving practical problems and seeing the results of your work out on the road, you'll fit in here.
Types of Roles at PT&E
We don't always have every position open, but these are the areas where we regularly look for people who know the industry or are ready to learn it.
Service Technicians
Hands-on work on garbage trucks, recycling trucks, and refuse collection equipment. Diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs that get trucks back on route.
Parts Support
Help customers identify, order, and track down parts for waste and recycling trucks. A mix of product knowledge, organization, and follow-through.
Sales Support
Support the equipment sales process by working with fleet managers, answering product questions, and helping customers find the right truck for their operation.
Administrative & Customer Support
Keep operations running smoothly — scheduling, customer communication, documentation, and the day-to-day coordination that supports the whole team.
Field & Installation Support
On-site support for installing parts and systems on customer trucks. Requires travel to customer locations and practical problem-solving in the field.
Practical Problem-Solving, Real Fleet Impact
At PT&E, the work is practical. You'll be around heavy-duty equipment every day — garbage trucks, recycling trucks, and refuse collection vehicles that haul tons and run long routes. The problems you'll solve aren't abstract; they're the kind that get a truck back on the road before the next collection cycle.
Customer service is a big part of the job too. Fleet managers, shop supervisors, and owner-operators depend on us for honest answers and timely support. When you help a customer here, you're helping keep a waste or recycling fleet running — and that matters to the communities we serve.
